Mobile OS will no longer Support WhatsApp 2017

The announcement by WhatsApp wants to support in the coming year only the three most popular mobile operating systems continues. "Today, running 99.5 percent of smartphones sold with Android, iOS or Windows", puts it in a blog post of messenger developer. Not too long ago, this Nokia and BlackBerry were still at 70 percent market share, now they have almost disappeared from the screen surface.

The smart phone market has changed so much in recent years that the decision is understandable. Still, there was loud WhatsApp quite a "hard decision" to drop Nokia and BlackBerry. But for the development of new functions, it is now absolutely necessary to restructure the team, and to withdraw from some projects.

Declining numbers of users

For most systems, it should in fact only be a very small proportion of users. The complete of Support for BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10, but surprised the community yet.

WhatsApp will adjust this year; work on the following smartphone operating systems:
  • BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10
  • Nokia S40
  • Nokia Symbian S60
  • Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
  • Windows Phone 7.1
